Why the hell wouldn’t you want to make some money on the side while you’re building your freelance business? Got your attention yet? Good.
As a freelance web designer, I can speak from the heart when I say that there are times in my business building process that I just wish I could work on things I liked all day long and not have worry about anything else. Passive income is the answer to that problem and since I’m sure that I am not the only one who has thoughts similar to this – you need to continue reading :)

Regular readers of SpyreStudios will recognize that the love of minimalism runs pretty deep around here (judging by the minimalism articles we’ve published before: here, here and here). So today we’re going to explore the excellent use of minimalism in blog design. The designers of these blogs knew what was important and made sure that the website focused on those pieces, and for that – we appreciate them.

I’m sure you guys all love freebies! I know I do! Since Halloween is almost upon us we’ve partnered with Matt from Echo Enduring Media to create a new breed of Twitter bird. Sure we all appreciate the cute and adorable Twitter bird icons and graphics, but there’s a new kid in town. He’s mean. We call him Tweevil, the dark Twitter bird.

I’ve had the pleasure of connecting with Jacob, the man behind the very popular design blog Six Revisions, on multiple occasions through various social sites and I recently interviewed him for SpyreStudios. I hope you’ll enjoy this interview with Jacob! Make sure you stop by in the comment section and feel free to ask Jacob questions! :)

Web designers set themselves apart every day with their own unique style and design. I want to showcase some of those designs who have went left of the normal path numerous trends set (you know the blue/green combo trend!) by designing with a color seldom used in the design community – Purple.
There have been countless round ups of websites with blue designs, brown designs and green designs but I have yet to see an article showcasing the portfolio website designs that brandish the purple color. And you know what they say, purple is the color of royalty – maybe these guys and girls are onto something? :)
