I wish some of these companies would promote how their websites look in their ads, because DSW’s website looks way cooler than their ads do.
I also find it interesting in this group how many update their site for seasonal promotions and look and feel.
And on a side note how awesome of an idea is Blik, I know now how I can decorate my studio…

Nice list………..and yes, the inspiration for our next project is flowing ;)
There is one thing making a website look the bee’s knees but when it comes to customer management of that site (the owner having to look after their store) then design can soon go outof the window
(Yes, we’ve all been there, having designed a great looking site — we check back to it 3-6 months later and oh boy!!)
I would love to see a top 30 list of Well Designed Ecommerce Websites build using Open Source eCommerce applications (ZenCart; OsCommerce, Magento, etc)…..after all for many new businesses (based on the budgets available) then these will be the eCommerce applications used.
For example Zen Cart out of the box http://demo.opensourcecms.com/zencart/ is BORING, but will a little bit of template changes it was be quickly changed http://www.horsehealth.co.uk/ or http://www.pomonafruits.co.uk/
Keep up the great posts spyrestudios ;)

Noel,
Yeah, seasonal changes are pretty common. In many cases with major ecommerce sites I notice changes from one week to the next.

Good collection!

Nice list! In my opinion the worst e-commerce sites are cluttered, some in the list are a little to cluttered for my liking. Good e-commerce get’s straight to the objective, the product and converting sales; the design must reflect this. I find that over-design-itis distracts me from the product they’re trying to sell.
Kiki & Bree is a quality site!

Almost a perfect list,
Thanks

Okay, I’ll admit these look great, but why do YOU think they’re great? Is it design, usability, or a little of both?

Mike,
The list was mostly based on design. Usability is obviously important too, but for the purposes of this list I was mostly interested in aesthetics.

Thanks for including my site (thebookgarden.com.au).
To the people who mentioned usability, how do you think TBG rates?
My main goal was to create a easy to use site which was not cluttered.
My favourite ecommerce sites are:
