34 Excellent Punctuation Inspired Logo Designs

September 28, 2009 by Jon 58 Comments

We use punctuation everyday when writing articles, blog posts and emails. We’re all aware that using the wrong punctuation can completely change the meaning of a sentence or even a whole document. So, where else do people use punctuation? In logo design of course!

The 34 logos showcased in the post use punctuation as a design element. Some logos feature commas, colons and semicolons while others use exclamation marks, question marks, brackets and parentheses. I found they were very creative and thought I’d share them with you. Enjoy! :)

    The logos are really creative.
I specially like the logo of “Numerical Man”!

A logo represents a business. A logo tells a lot about a business and important part of brand reputation.

Wow i like these! Quite a lot of ‘quote’ one’s though – seems to be a popular choice?
I particularly like Schizophrenic’s use of the different punctuation, Earth’s combination of typeface and exclamation mark, and Numerical Man’s just brilliant.
    What about everybody else?

    Very nice.
Looking at the “Ingenio ” logo, looks very vague to me.

  14. Mondo Print says

Nice! Ingenio is really creative, but I never would have got it not knowing what it was before hand. Schizo is definitely my favorite.

I was enjoying your list of punctuation logos and what do you know, mine was in the list (enfinitive). Thanks for featuring it! I really like the concept of using punctuation as part of a logo. Since it’s something we use everyday that has a pre-conceived meaning, using it in another way can help tell a new story in a short, meaningful way. Great post, thanks!

  28. aeghort says

    September 29, 2009 at 1:44 pm

Thanks for featuring my design (ingenio)!

I totaly agree there’s practically no way (especially for non-designers) to read it without knowing the name. The reason is everyone who’ll see it, **will** know it should be “ingenio”.

Let me explain: it’s no client job, only a lousy school project (fictive ad agency) :). It’ll be used only once, during the school’s doors open day, so it’s no big deal to explain the name by the rest of CI and the tagline: “Speaking without words.” That’s why I allowed myself so tricky concept.

About the others: I love almost all of them. Lets point some out: Numerical man is incredibly creative, Dignity has perfect color choice, super. But my favorite one is Gobo.
